Doing Tri event is a big challenge. It is an athletic event made up of three contests: Swimming, Cycling and Running in that order. Clue of this sport is to race each stage in a way that preserves energy and endurance for subsequent stages. Specialising in each of the disciplines doesn't mean great score during Triathlon event. While amateur triathletes who also compete in individual swimming, cycling or running generally apply the same techniques and philosophy to triathlon, professionals have specialized techniques for each discipline that improve their race as a whole.

Have a look on brief description of each stage!

Swim

- Drafting
- Wetsuit
- Swim Mask

Triathletes will use their legs less vigorously and more carefully than other swimmers, conserving their leg muscles for the cycle and run to follow.
Drafting will save your energy - Following competitor closely to swim in their slipstream
Because most of triathlon swim stages are conducted in open waters which are often cold, most of races allow wetsuit. However typical wetsuit made for snorkeling or surfing are not good for triathlon because the sleeves generally restrict the range of motion too much for comfortable stroking during the swim. Modern Triathlon wetsuits are customized to triathlon needs - are thinner and more flexy, have long zippers to allow quick removal during transition and have very smooth surface to reduce water friction.
Triathlon wetsuits are fragile and can not be used for ie. surfing because the slick surface can be destroyed by contact with the sandy surfboard.
Use Swim Mask - Open water swims necessitate sighting - raising the head to look for landmarks, buoys that mark the course or check your position.

Cycle

- Tri bikes
- Aero Bars
- Tri Shoes
- Aerodrink System
- Aerodynamic Wheels
- Tri Helmets
- Tri Saddles
- Hydration System
- Energy Food

Tri Bikes are type of Road bikes designed to optimize Aerodynamics. Because in most Triathlons drafting is not allowed, Triathletes can gain a significant advantage by riding a bicycle which reduces wind resistance.
AeroBars - It is the most obvious feature od a Triathlon bicycle. They are handlebars to reduce cyclist's wind profile. Thanks to them rider can gain position that keeps the rider's elbows in close to the body and lowers his or her torso compared to the usual upright position.
Tri Shoes - Triathlon Shoes are similar to other Road shoes. They can be clipped to the same Road pedals. However the main difference is they have one velcro strap only instead of 2 or 3 like in Road shoes. Why? Most of competitive cyclists leave their shoes clipped onto the pedals when bike is on the transition. This means the athlete is jumping onto the bike with wet, bare fit after the swim, and will pedal up to a reasonable speed, with his or her feet sitting on top of the shoes, before pausing to slip the feet inside the shoes and fasten them with one move. The same after the Cycling stage the athlete will pull his or her feet out of the shoes while coasting up to the bike-run transition area and run barefoot into the transition corral rather than attempt to run on the awkward metal cycling cleats.
Aerodynamic Wheels were created for Triathlon needs. They have aerodynamic rims and flat spokes. Triathletes often use carbon made disc wheel on back or 3 or 4 spoke wheel on the front wheel. All to gain aerodynamics and save legs for last part - Run!
Tri helmet offers aerodynamic styling for minimum resistance when cutting through the air at full speed. When choosing the helmet make sure it is certified for crash protection.
The front of the Tri Saddle is well padded with Gel to provide extra comfort when riding on the nose of the saddle in an aero tuck. Most of the saddle is covered in a Neoprene and Lycra material to cope with being ridden by Triathletes still wet from the swim.
During cycling you have to focus on rehydrating your organism. To reduce the need to reach for a bottle - which may interrupt pedalling and slow down the racer - it's worth to consider Aerodrink System from Profile. It's mounted on the Tri bars directly in front of rider's face and has a straw so the athlete can drink without using his hands
Energy food. On the bike you have some time to prepare yourself for the run. That's why easily absorbable energy source is a must. Energy Gels are the most popular items used during the Tri event. They offer quicker energy source than energy bars (gel is easier absorbed by your stomach). Moreover in your drink you can mix some Energy powder.
Race Belt has very simple task to do. Holds your race number on your back when on bike and all you need is to flip it on your chest when run.

Run

- TriSuit
- LockLaces

In the early days of Triathlon, transition areas often included tents where the athletes changed clothes between stages. However, since transition time is included in an athlete's total time, triathletes quickly started trying to gain an advantage on their competitors by wearing the same clothing in two or more events. This inevitably led to the development of specialized clothing which could be used for all three disciplines yet still be comfortable enough for each.
Triathlon suits are available in one- or two-piece varieties, and generally consist of a form fitting triathlon short and a sleeveless top resembling a singlet or cycling jersey. They are made out of fabrics which do not hold much water and which dry quickly to reduce the weight the athlete is carrying while running or cycling. They are tight-fitting both to reduce drag and to allow them to be worn under a wetsuit, and have no sleeves to improve comfort while swimming.
Triathletes often lace their shoes with elastic shoelaces. This allows them to pre-set the tension of the laces but then to pull on the shoes without stopping to tie the laces. This saves a few seconds of time during the bike-to-run transition.
