Nico Vouilloz, 10 times DH Champion, finished his 11-year cycling career in 2002 and began racing as a Rally driver. Recently he signed a rally racing contract with Peugeot. Vouilloz said he was bit by the mountain biking bug again while riding in Whistler with friends back in September 2006. He said he continued riding Mountain Bikes in his off years, but never seriously.

Now he comes back to cycling in great style! Last year he won MegaAvalanche twice: in August in Alpe d'Huez and in December in Reunion Island. Recently Nico got involved in collaboration with Lapierre Tech and Development Team which resulted in Full suspension Freeride and Downhill bikes range in 2006. In beginning of 2007 Nico became Lapierre DH Team Rider and claimed he plans to start in the World Cup race in Champéry, Switzerland, June 9-10 and in Schladming, Austria, July 7-8. If the season goes well, Vouilloz is considering the final race in Maribor, Slovenia, September 15-16.

His latest results suggest that he is more than capable of handling both - cycling and rally driving! More results to follow...?
